VICTOR MIGNATTI
director - editor - PRODUCER
Picture
Filmmaker Victor Mignatti creates documentaries, commercials, feature films, music videos and branded shorts noted for an honest cinema-verite style coupled with intimate and compelling interviews and testimonials. He is often called upon to elicit authentic scripted performances from real-people and typically edits his own work. Mignatti studied film at New York University and acting at Circle in the Square. He lives in Rome and New York.

Mignatti is currently in post-production on the feature documentary SOME GAYS OF A CERTAIN AGE which interweaves the stories of seven gay men who moved to New York City in the 1970s and 80s and survived the AIDS health crisis, and lived to witness the unprecedented challenges currently facing the United States
.  As told from the unique point of view of HIV-negative gay men of a certain age, the film is a bracing, entertaining and often harrowing story of loss and survival as well as an overdue tribute to our gay elders.

In the realms of comedy, television and feature film, Mignatti received a Grammy Award nomination as director of TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET 13-22, distributed and broadcast by IFC. This outrageous music video “hip-hopera,” which the New York Times called “extraordinarily entertaining," was the Billboard #1 Platinum music video for 5 weeks in a row. Mignatti wrote and directed the Outfest audience award-winning feature romantic comedy BROADWAY DAMAGE which critic Rex Reed called, “One of the best American Independent films in years.” As director of "THE REAL WORLD NEW ORLEANS, the hit MTV series received the very first People's Choice Award nomination in the reality television category.  His 2012 documentary release, THIS TIME, is a music-driven portrait of six recording artists including the late great Pat Hodges and Elvis Presley back-up singers, The Sweet Inspirations.
